Marketing Plans

The marketing plan tells how you will get people to buy your product. It may include:

  • specific promotions
  • a cycle of promotions
  • identifying customers psychographically
  • locating customers geographically
  • an on-line and social media strategy
  • brand and product values, identity and style
  • your value proposition
  • database marketing
  • a sales model
  • staff training
  • customer satisfaction measurement
  • a "Customer WOW!" program

Lots of things about a business are already decided before the marketing plan, for example the products and services you are in, the areas you trade from, the way the business is run, structured and financed. The marketing plan operates at the pointy end of all these business processes: getting customers to buy. For many people, it's the fun end.
